Recently I had an interesting chat to a lovely gentleman who said he ate raw because he hated his body. My heart twisted as he spoke because I knew how he felt. I too have hated my body despite the fact that it's a miracle in itself. This man hates his body because it has pimples and is weak among other things.
"Will you eat raw if you get clear skin and become strong?" I asked him?
"Probably not" he responded. "Once I'm strong I'll always be strong" and he seemed to conveniently forget that he also "hated" (such a strong word!) the acne.
I've shared this story with a few people and sadly, many have said "what an idiot!". I marvel at these people who have such confidence in themselves that they cannot imagine how it feels to dislike yourself intently. I guess there is a downside to confidence after all!
The message I have here for you all, is to eat Raw, not because you hate your body, but because you love it and, dare I suggest that you love yourselves as well. Love it for it's ability to release toxic muck via the skin. Love it because it still struggles to get you through the day even when starving for nutrition.
Love your body because it heals so quickly.
Love your body because it wants you to do well.
Take it to the next level, love yourself enough to eat optimal foods. You are not missing out. If you go to your mum's or a friend's place and they're all eating junk while you're eating a fruit platter, or a salad meal, or a raw version of what they're having, they are missing out. Not you. They're missing out on vital nutrition. They're missing out on the flavours of fresh whole foods. They're missing out on health and vitality even if they don't know it.
Love yourself for having the patience to keep on eating well while your body does healing that you can't see. Many a time I've seen people who say "My skin doesn't look any different" or "My energy levels are low and it's been three months" etc etc and they get frustrated. But there is so much going on inside the body that we can't see. So many organs. What if your liver is not feeling well and needs to heal itself for a bit before it can even handle the toxins it has to filter out for you to detox? One girl I know who couldn't lose weight even after years on a raw food diet found that she had liver issues. They will go away eventually and while she didn't lose weight, she did lose her cancer which is medically documented. She is also much happier and has loads of energy. Imagine how wonderful her body is to clear out a medically confirmed cancer while her liver was not in prime condition! I haven't spoken to her for a long time so I don't know if the weight has shifted for her or not.
Kristina Carrillo-Bucaram of www.FullyRaw.com. Kristina mentioned in this video that it took one and a half years for her body to heal from it's hypogycemia. In another video she mentioned that she had doctors bills of over $25,000USD per year. Crazy! And how amazing that she is so vibrant, healthy, content and happy these days. I've seen people give up after a couple of days. These people were scared of how it feels to be healthy I believe. Or perhaps they have the belief that if they crave a food, there's something in it that their body needs. That might have been true once upon a time, but in todays food there are often so many addictive chemicals posing as ingredients that if their body was craving a junk food, it's most likely because they're addicted and don't realise it.
You eat Raw because you Love yourself. It's as simple as that. Even if you feel like you hate yourself, you don't. Somewhere down deep, you love yourself at levels you can't imagine. Otherwise, you'd be continuing with your slow suicide of over processed, toxic crud the powers that be allow corporations to label as food. Embrace that feeling of loving yourself, eat Raw and enjoy life.
